Interfacial stabilizing and reinforcing effects of silsesquioxane-based hybrid Janus molecules in extrusion supercritical CO2 foaming of polypropylene

چکیده

High-melt-strength (HMS) polypropylene (PP) has enabled easy supercritical-CO2 (scCO2) foaming of PP. However, producing microcellular PP foams via simple scCO2 extrusion still remains challenging, whereas macrocellular with high expansion ratios (ER) generally exhibit poor mechanical strengths. In this study, to simultaneously enhance both ER and compressive strengths foams, a type low-cost Janus molecules, heptaisobutyl open-cage silsesquioxane (HOS), is incorporated into HMS-PP. Since HOS PP-philic groups partially condensed cage that relatively CO2-philic, it could diffuse like surfactant the PP-CO2 interface during stabilise cells in their growth stage reinforce cell surface upon solidification. The effect validated X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Moreover, 1 wt% HOS, PP/HOS foam offer 38 % improvement, 23 density reduction, 20 strength increase over neat foam. also slightly improve extensional viscosity melt at ≤1 loadings reduce shear by acting as lubricant. This approach provides economically viable materials design guideline for alleviating ER-compression trade-offs polymer foams.

Supercritical CO₂ Foaming of Radiation Cross-Linked Isotactic Polypropylene in the Presence of TAIC.

Since the maximum foaming temperature window is only about 4 °C for supercritical CO₂ (scCO₂) foaming of pristine polypropylene, it is important to raise the melt strength of polypropylene in order to more easily achieve scCO₂ foaming. In this work, radiation cross-linked isotactic polypropylene, assisted by the addition of a polyfunctional monomer (triallylisocyanurate, TAIC), was employed in ...

on translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...

patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

the effects of keyword and context methods on pronunciation and receptive/ productive vocabulary of low-intermediate iranian efl learners: short-term and long-term memory in focus
